About the Book
Productive employment of the available labour force is the key to
development of an economy. For effective and balanced utilization of the increasing
labour force, the direction of the present book is to examine existing nature of
employment in different sectors of the economy and to identify the sector or area
where additional employment opportunity can be created. This is also in view of
the fact that unless, the available labour force is effectively utilised, it
may go as wasted becoming a liability to an economy by adversely affecting its growth.
Unemployment
specially among the educated youths has created serious social problems, which
is evident from the crimes, and the criminals in the society. The existing
problem of unemployment in the country in general and the state of Manipur in
particular, fascinated the author to go in depth into the problem of unemployment
and to suggest feasible solution, keeping in view the socio-economic and
political situation of Manipur. Thus the author attempts to study in detail the
nature and the extent of unemployment and underemployment in the state, their
causes etc. and offer measures for minimising the problems thereof.
