About the Authors:

Dr. Dhanabir Laishram is a Guest Faculty Member, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) (Regional Centre Manipur). He is working as an Associate Professor in Regional College and former Guest Faculty Member, Dept. of Political Science, Manipur University. He, born in 1954, hails from the unique village of Thongju in Manipur.

He has travelled widely. In 1977 he participated in the Working Groups for Indigenous People at the United Nations in Geneva. He participated in the working groups again in 1999 and 2000. He got ESPERANTO learning in 2001 in Netherlands. He went to Thailand in 2001 and Shan states in Myanmar in 2005 to study genesis of Tai people. He is a member of Universal Esperanto Association, Netherlands. He was also one of the members of NEPI (North East People Initiative).

Dr. Dhanabir Laishram has published eight books and several articles on various aspects of North East India in national and international journals. He is also very popular permanent columnist of "The Poknapham" and "The People's Chronicle."

Devarani Ningombam, D/o Ningombam Gojendro Singh and Ningombam (O) Dayapati Devi has an excellent academic career. She has done her BA, Political Science (h) from Miranda House, University of Delhi, and MA in Political Science from Amity University, Noida.

About the Author:

Dr. Angelee Wolleng of Sirarakhong village, Ukhrul District, Manipur finished her doctor of philosophy in Manipuri diaspora in Myanmar from Manipur University. In course of her research work, she has gone through the challenges of visiting the diaspora’s in Myanmar with tourist visa, wearing Myanmarese dress due to military rule in Myanmar. She has also contributed a number of article projects to some books and journals. She is now married to Mr. Pem Makan, Dpty. Commdnt, CRPF of Koso Village, Ukhrul district Manipur.

About the Book:

Manipuri diaspora in Myanmar is the first work done so far on the Meiteis who settled in Myanmar. The Meitei in Myanmar are the offspring of the war victims deported to Burma as a consequence of the political crisis between the erstwhile kingdom of Manipur and Burma (Now Myanmar).

The diaspora were uprooted from family, friend and nation-state from their ancestor land and taken to the Burmese land. The diaspora adjustment adoption, adaptation and amalgamation in the host country is the subject of the book.

The regions is marked by the lush green semi-tropical forests, the famous one-horned rhino, wild buffalo, elephants, brow antlered deer etc. Many endangered species of flora and fauna are found in the forests of the region.

L.S. Sharma (b. 1968) MCom and PhD (Manipur University), MBA (IGNOU), FDPM (IIMA) is currently working as Professor of Marketing and IT in Department of Management, Mizoram University. Before joining Mizoram University, he has worked in Sherubtse College under the Royal University of Bhutan as senior lecturer. He has published a book and 27 research papers in national and international journals. In the last eight years, he has been attending and participating in more than 30 national and international seminars and conferences as paper presenter, discussant, rapporteur and chaired several technical sessions. His areas of interest are in Marketing (specially in Consumer Behaviour, Service Marketing, E-Marketing) and Information Technology (specially in Management Information System and E-Business). He was awarded National B-School Awards-2013 (Best Professor Teaching Marketing Management) by ABP News (formerly Star News). Currently he is the co-ordinator of Career Counselling Cell as well as Equal Opportunity Cell of Mizoram University.
