About the Book:

Culture and Thoughts of Education in India: At Present and Past is basically a book that caters to the interest of the readers in the field of the development of the systems of education in different era. This book is comprehensively study and has been prepared keeping in view of the syllabi of 10+2, T.D.C., M.A. (Education), B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil. (Education) of various councils and universities of our country. The book betrays the fact that it is the study of the different systems of education by which Indians live and the society is animated. Indians in different periods determine all their social and individual activities by their education, religion, culture and their thoughts. The book consists of twenty chapters. The first three chapters deal with the education during Vedic, Budhist and Medieval periods respectively. Anglo Indian Controversy and Macaulay’s Minute, Adam’s Report and Wood’s Dispatch are included in the fourth, fifth and sixth chapters. Other commissions like Indian Education Commission (1882), Sadler Commission Report, Basic Education Scheme, University Education Commission, Secondary Education Commission, Kothari Commission are studied in the seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth one by one. In chapters thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth; the National Policy on Education (1986), its review committee and its revised policy have been studied separately. The Elementary Education, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) have been included as chapters as an umbrella of the Universalization of Elementary Education.
The book has been written in a simple language and would prove highly useful for the learners and it may help the scholars in their deeper studies.



About the Author:
Dr. Keisham Shitaljit Singh, an Assistant Professor of the Department of Education, Manipur University is a teacher with a brilliant academic career. He has obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. degree from the Kurukshetra University. He has published more than sixty research papers in different aspects of education in different reputed National and International Journals of Education and Psychology and he has contributed the prestigious edited books. Recently, his eight books on education are published viz. ‘Moderators of Leadership Behaviour Among Principals’ by Rakhi Prakashan, Agra in 2009, ‘Educational Philosophies and Thinkers: Western and Indian’ by H.P. Bhargava Book House; Agra in 2011, ‘Principles and Development of Education in India: A Successful Guideline to the Learners’ by Rakhi Prakashan, Agra in 2011, ‘Educational Guidance for Backward Students’ by Vedant Publications; Lucknow in 2012, ‘Social Awareness Based on Education’ and ‘Educational and Vocational Guidance: A Special  Reference to Scheduled Tribe Students’  by Anu Books; Meerut   in the year of 2013 and 2014, Public Awareness Based on HIV and AIDS  by Anu Books; Meerut in the year of 2015 and Contemporary Education in India (Special Emphasis on New Innovations) by H.P. Bhargava Book House, Agra in the year of 2016 respectively.
Dr. Singh has been conferred the award of “Best Educational Psychologist” by IPERA; Patana in 2009 and in the same year, he was also awarded “Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puraskar” by the IIEM; New Delhi. He has completed two major UGC projects and one ICSSR major research project. The author has presented an article in the most reputed Hawaii International Conference on Education – 2013 in Hawaii, USA from 6th to 11th January 2013. He has taken session chair in that conference for the topic related with the Educational Administration. As a Ph.D. supervisor, he has produced awarded Ph.D. scholars and he is also guiding numbers of JRF research scholars.
