The future of business lies in its sustainability. Any business which is likely to put undue pressure on environment, over exploit resources, and adopt practices undermining health and hygiene will run the risk of being rejected and hence move out of the context. This emanates from strong economic and social logic. The economic logic drives business and how it will fare in the market. The empirical EKC hypothesis (Environmental Kuznets Curve) provides evidence that environmental quality is a luxury good and it is demand more as the income increases. Below a cut-off point, there is a positive relationship between per capita income and environmental degradation, while once the turning point is reached, above a cut-off per capita income, the environmental degradation stops and improvement in environmental quality starts occurring.

About the Editors

Dr. Sunildro L.S. Akoijam is currently an Assistant Professor in area of Marketing and Strategy at Department of Management, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus. He has more than 4 years of teaching experiences at the PG level in the Universities. Before joining NEHU, he was working at the Institute of Management Studies, Kurukshetra University. He did his MBA from Amity University, Uttar Pradesh and PhD. from Manipur University. He is a UGC-JRF (NET) qualified scholar. He has presented several research papers and case studies in various International and National Seminars and Conferences. He has also participated in various Workshops, Faculty Development Programmes, short term certificate courses and academic related activities organized by Premier Management Institutes in different parts of the country and abroad. He has visited several foreign countries including Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Indonesia and Thailand for the academic activities. His research papers have been published in various referred International and National Journals. He is a member of esteemed management associations like All India Management Association (AIMA), Rural marketing Association of India (RMAI), Delhi management Association (DMA), International Society for Development & Sustainability, Japan, The Society for Management Education, Kurukshetra etc. He is associated with various National and International Journals including Emerald (UK), Journal of Reviews on Global Economics (Canada) etc. as an Editorial board member or reviewer. He has also organized several academic activities like Seminars, Conferences, Symposium, FDPs, workshops and Management Fest.

Dr. Nilam Panchal (Ph.D., M.Phil (Gold Medalist), PGDIRPM (Gold Medalist), MBA and FDPM- IIMA) is working as an Associate Professor, B. K. School of Business Management, (PG Department of Management Studies) at Gujarat University. She has been associated in the past with The Institute of Management, Nirma University as a Faculty. She has more than 15 years of academic and industry experience. Her core interest areas include Corporate Finance, International Finance, Corporate Restructuring and Human Resource Management. She has attended Faculty Development Programme (FDP) in Management from the prestigious institute, IIM Ahmedabad and also FDP in Entrepreneurship from Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad. She has been a participant in various Management Teacher’s Programmes (MTPs) and FDPs at IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Indore, IIM-Noida, MDI, Gurgaon to name a few. She has published many research papers in refereed national and international academic journals and articles in business magazines. She has also contributed chapters and cases in books and has presented papers in many national and international conferences. During the course of her teaching career, she has also displayed administrative capabilities in various assignments as coordinator of Examinations, Post Graduate Programmes, Placement & Training, Management Development, Course Coordinator and such related areas. Presently, She is a Co-ordinator of Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Finance Management for the Management Academy, BKSBM, Gujarat University. She is a member of advisory committees for the Student Development Activities and placement related activities of the institute.

Besides, Dr. Panchal has delivered keynote speeches and talks in international and national level conferences/ Seminars/ Training Programmes across the nation. She has conducted Employee Development, Management Development , Faculty Development and Women Development Programmes for Executives & Middle Level Managers of different organizations like Kohler India, GNFC (NARDES & Ladies Club), P I Industries, Classic Hotels, Zindal Industries, Babina Diagnostics, Asian Paints Limited, to name a few.  She has been awarded Merit certificate by Education Department, Government of Gujarat in recognition of the high position secured in the list of meritorious candidates qualifying for awards in the Gujarat. She is recipient of various awards and Prizes for Best research papers, best performer and best teacher. She is a member of various associations like AIMS, BDMA, ITC, and IARA. She is passionate about teaching, research and training and has been engaged in enabling Individuals and Organizations through coaching, training, learning and development. She has taught a courses at MDI- Murshidabad, Kolkata. She initiated and established a FMDP Cell in the Gujarat University and has been conducting Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for middle-level executives and Student Development Programmes on a regular basis. Besides, she has been member of Editorial Boards of various national and International Journals.  

Dr. W. C. Singh is a Professor of Organisational Behaviour, and International Business in the Manipur Institute of Management studies, Manipur University. He has completed the Faculty Development Programme in Management (34^th Batch) from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Prof. Singh started his teaching career in the year 1995. He teaches MBA and PhD programme students at different Universities/Institutions in India. Before joining Manipur University in the year 2007 he worked with Amrapali Institute of Management & Computer Applications (Haldwani, Nainital), Institute of Management Studies (Dehradun), Rai University (Dehradun), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (Katra, Jammu & Kashmir), Mizoram University etc. Prof. Singh traveled different parts of India and many other countries for academic purposes.

Dr. Singh has been conducting Management Development Programmes, Employees Development Programmes, Case Method of Teaching for Management Teachers & Scholars, Cross Cultural Sensitivities Workshops etc. in many public sector, private sector industrial units, and to different Universities/Institutions throughout India. Besides, he conducted training sessions for India Civil Service Officers.

Prof. W. C. Singh has produced 4 PhD Scholars till 2015. His major research areas include- Organisational Culture, Organisational Climate, Cross Cultural Communication and Sensitivities, Youth empowerment etc. He was key note speakers of different National and International level programmes. His research papers have been published in many of the National and International Journals of repute.
