J.A .H Khatri He has completed his graduation with English Literature from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad and post graduation with Linguistics from The M S University of Baroda, Vadodara. At present, he is working as an Assistant Professor of Communication Skills at the Department of Science & Humanity, BITS Edu Campus, Varnama, Vadodara (Gujarat). He bears more than seven years of teaching experience. His fields of interest are Communication Theories, Media Semiotics and Linguistic Anthropology. He has published many articles and books at various National and International levels in the above mentioned areas.

The book discusses the emerging field of media semiotics, a branch of semiotics as well as Media studies. There are papers on films, advertisements and news. Basically, all these papers are modified for the present work; they are either published somewhere in English/Gujarati or presented in some conference or seminars. The details will be provided. For all the papers, semiotics is used as a tool for interpretation, but the approach varies in various papers. The papers are properly formatted and modified for the present publication.
Though the field of media-semiotics is emerging in India, it has well established roots in the works of European and American scholars like Ferdinand De Saussure, Roland Barthes, Jacques Lacan, etc.
