About the Book
The book analyses the various aspect of human population in
Manipur. Physical, culture, and social aspect have forced the population to
remain distinct. The world has now been suddenly brought face to face with
population problem of man’s adaptation on the lack of it, to his environment in
the broad sense. Here, the paramount theme seeks to analyse the various aspects
of human population of Manipur from various angles.
About the Author:
Dr. Saikhom Gopal Singh, born in December, 1948 at Nambol
Sabal Leikai, Nambol, Bishnupur District, Manipur, obtained his Matriculation
from Nambol High School, Nambol, under Assam Board, Assam, in 1968, Graduation
from D.M. College, Imphal, under Gauhati University, Assam, in 1972, Master’s
Degree in Geography from Banaras Hindu University, Vanarasi, U.P., in 1975,
Ph.D. Degree from Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya, Bihar, in “Population
Geography”, 1987 and D.Litt. Degree from Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya, Bihar,
in “Human Geography”, 1995. Dr. Singh is the first to receive D.Litt. Degree
from Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya, in the faculty of Geography and also in
North East India.
Formerly, he was the Principal of Kha-Manipur (Govt.) College,
Kakching; and Modern College (Govt.), Imphal. Presently, he is the Principal of
Nambol L. Sanoi (govt.) College, Nambol.
He got many educational Awards in State, National and
International Level. He is also an author in Manipuri Literature and also a
life Fellow of different Geographical Societies of India.
